CLPPP Transitions Resources

NCHH is developing a series of trainings to assist Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Programs (CLPPPs) in transitioning to Healthy Homes programs. These three trainings are:

  1. CLPPP Transitions: Train-the-Trainer Training Course: NCHH developed and piloted a one-day pilot course for CLPPP staff responsible for implementing guidance and training their peers in the agency. NCHH held the pilot session of this course on May 25, 2010 in Kansas City, MO. More information on this course, including the Course Materials, is below.

  2. CLPPP Program Managers: NCHH and its regional training partners are tentatively planning to offer a 1/2-day workshop immediately before CDC’s meeting in Atlanta on October 19 to 21 for CLPPP Program Managers. The workshop will be designed to prepare CLPPP Program Managers to implement the CDC Transition Guidance by explaining the guidance, reviewing the resources available to them, and giving them models to consider. It will also walk them through the Making the Connection Exercise to ensure they have the basics of healthy homes.

  3. Launching a Healthy Homes Initiative: Through its regional training partners, NCHH has made available its Launching a Healthy Homes Initiative training course. The course is a facilitated strategic planning session to engage community leaders in the healthy homes and get their input and support for a action items to launch a community-wide, healthy homes initiative. CLPPPs should hold one of these courses after they have prepared agency staff and laid out their internal strategic plan pursuant to the CDC Transitions Guidance. NCHH will provide its regional training partners with course materials and related support through its existing training agreements. The regional training partner is likely to need additional funding through the CLPPP program or other means for the labor, facility use, and planning support.

Who should attend this course? CLPPP staff responsible for preparing agency and program staff to make the transition to healthy homes consistent with CDC Transition Guidance. The staff person will be responsible for training staff in small group settings.
