NCHH is seeking qualified principal instructors who wish to conduct Certified Lead Renovator training under NCHH's EPA accreditation.  Principal instructors are responsible for the marketing of training, recruitment of students, and oversight of the teaching of all course material.

All instructors must sign a written agreement with NCHH before they can teach the Certified Renovator Class under NCHH's accreditation. NCHH does not restrict instructors from delivering training for other accredited training providers.  NCHH will pursue state accreditation or help the instructor become state-accredited on a case-by-case basis.

NCHH charges a fee for these services of $120 per training course held, plus $15 per student in the course.  Selected course materials (such as student manuals, cleaning verification cards, and lead swabs) are available in the RRP webstore as a one-stop shop for the convenience of the instructors (note that the cleaning verification cards are only available to members of the NCHH RRP network).

NCHH requires the following from each potential qualified instructor:

 1.

A legible copy of a certificate documenting at least eight (8) hours of EPA- or state-accredited lead-specific training. While it is excellent training, note that  the 16-hour "Train-the-Trainer" course does not qualify. EPA-recognized accredited courses include the following:

  • 24-hour Lead Inspector Initial Course;
  • 16-hour Lead Risk Assessor Initial Course;
  • 16-hour Lead Abatement Worker Initial Course;
  • 32-hour Lead Abatement Supervisor Initial Course;
  • 8-hour Certified Lead Renovator Course; or
  • 8-hour Lead Dust Sampling Technician Course.
 2.   A brief explanation of experience teaching workers or adults, including substantial experience leading classroom-style trainings.

 3.    A brief explanation of experience in one or more of the following:

  • Lead or asbestos abatement;
  • Painting, carpentry, renovation, or remodeling;
  • Occupational safety and health; or
  • Industrial Hygiene.
 4.   A current résumé documenting the experience described above.

Please send the information to NCHH's Training Program Manager, Jessica Lucas, at jlucas@nchh.org if you are interested in joining.

If you qualify, NCHH will need you to do the following:

  • Sign an agreement with NCHH establishing the roles and responsibilities between NCHH and you.
  • Review the information on this website, including the facility requirements and NCHH's applications to the EPA.
  • Have a teleconference with NCHH's Training Program Manager to walk you through the substantive and administrative aspects of the training. NCHH will work with you to teach the class successfully.

Instructors must provide Christopher Bloom with the course documents via email at cbloom@nchh.org no more than three business days following the class. At this time, instructors should also remit payment for completed classes. NCHH will issue all certificates and handle other required notices.

NCHH encourages trainers to get a better understanding of the supplies needed to comply with the rule. Take the paint retailers free online training on the rule, lead-safe work practices, and the products that their customers will need. Thanks to the Indiana State Department of Health for funding to make the training possible and the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) for hosting the training.
