COURSE DESCRIPTION

This 1-day (8-hour) class explains how to comply with EPA’s Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule. Subjects covered include: health effects, regulations, lead safe work practices, containment, cleaning & record keeping.

Why Take the Course?

Common renovation activities can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which can be harmful to adults and children. Therefore for companies working for compensation in Target Housing and Child Occupied Facilities, the new EPA Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule requires that...

• …"lead safe work practices" be used.

• ...there be at least one RRP Certified Renovator at each job. This renovator must take a 1-day class from an EPA-Accredited training provider. Colorado Hazard Control is a certified training provider.

• …companies be "RRP certified," even if a sole proprietorship.

The lead safe work practice class curriculum is sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and HUD.

After passing an end-of-class exam, students receive RRP Certificates and certification is valid for 5 years!

The EPA has mandated that all training be completed prior to the rule taking effect in April 2010, so beat the rush and get trained today.

Follow these easy instructions to discover where courses are being held near you:

  1. At the top of the calendar, you’ll see a month and year listed. Select your desired month and year, or leave it where it is to see this month’s courses. Wait for the page to refresh before continuing.
  2. Next, use the drop-down list of categories to show only a single category of training (example: “Lead”). This filter is located immediately above the calendar, on the far-left side. Wait for the page to refresh.
  3. Find the course filter to the right of the categories menu. Each course type has a code for quick identification (example: “LCR-I” for “Lead Certified Renovator - Initial”). Refine your search further by selecting a single course from this list. Wait for the page to refresh.
  4. You should now be able to see all of the trainings posted to the calendar for the month you’ve selected. Using the search window above the calendar on the right, type any additional search information, such as a specific training provider or a state. If you’re searching by state, we recommend that you search using the full name of the state (example: “Pennsylvania”). Searches using abbreviations may result in extraneous listings ( “PA” may pull listings containing “EPA” or “partner," for example).

If you have a question about a particular course listing, contact the training provider.
